is the place to be
is the place to be
We moved into our dream home in August 2016. We call it our “Father of the Bride” house because the moment we first pulled into the driveway, Scott and I both thought it was the kind of house we could see our kids growing up and getting married in.
The lot is just over one — fenced, mostly flat, covered-in-oak-trees, grassy and picturesque — acre. It also came with a cute little chicken coop that matches the house. Anyone that has visited us here knows that in this area, fences and flat yards are a luxury. Our town is a quiet, mostly-vacation-home lake community in the mountains outside of Yosemite National Park. Water is expensive up here. Grass is a rarity. We love that we can raise our kids in such a unique environment, but still longed for the backyard experiences we both had as kids growing up in the suburbs. This house came with a well and — thanks to that well — a lawn!
It was everything we hoped for before we even set foot inside.
So we’ve been busy making the house our own and taking advantage of the farm-meets-park setting to embark on new adventures…like raising chickens and building a tree house!
I’m starting this blog to keep our family and friends (near and far, new and old, lost and found) up to date on our happy, crazy little lives on This Green Acre.
